Music Minor

The Music Department offers two distinct Minors: Music and ICAM. To declare a Minor:

  1. Click on the Major and Minor link under Tools on My TritonLink.
  2. The department will review your minor request and determine if it is approved or denied. You will receive an automated email from the Registrar indicating the department's decision.
  3. If you have questions about which courses to take or how to submit the request, please stop in the Music Department office.

 

Music Minor

Lower Division Requirements
Select any two lower-division music courses from Music 1-15, 33. Performance ensembles (Music 95B-95W) and individual lessons (Music 32) are excluded.

Upper Division Requirements
Select any five upper-division music courses. Upper-division performance ensembles (Music 130-132, and 134) are included and may be taken multiple times to satisfy upper-division requirements.

Prerequisites
Please be sure to check the prerequisites for courses when completing a Minor Declaration Form. Students will not be admitted to certain courses without having completed the prerequisite requirements.

 

Transferring Courses

  • Courses taken at another college or at a community college may be used to fulfill lower-division requirements only. A photocopy of the course description from the originating institution's catalog or course syllabus must be attached to the minor form.
  • The Music Department does not accept Advanced Placement (AP) courses to apply toward the minor.

The Music Department allows students to take minor courses for letter and/or pass/no pass grading options. Please check with your college for their policy.
