General Information About the La Jolla Symphony

The La Jolla Symphony is one of the best community-based symphony orchestras in the country. We have a wide variety of people in the La Jolla Symphony. 10-20% of the musicians are undergraduate or graduate UCSD students (who must sign up for the La Jolla Symphony as a class once accepted into the orchestra). There are also UCSD staff and faculty in the orchestra Finally, as a community orchestra for 52 years, there are many fine musicians who also happen to be teachers, doctors, engineers, dentists, scientists, professors, and many others. About 25% of the members of the orchestra are also professional musicians. We are by and large a volunteer organization, with high expectations, and a love for music which ensures our continued success. Most full rehearsals are Mondays 7-10 PM, with occasional sectionals on Wednesday nights, and dress rehearsals on the Friday night preceding each concert weekend.

Thank you for your interest in the La Jolla Symphony.
