The Music Department

The Music Department has built its esteemed reputation as one of the few departments to focus on contemporary music. It serves as home to some of the finest composers, performers and researchers in the industry. Music students and faculty enjoy access to an elite array of technical and musical facilities, including digital audio project and learning labs; a spatialization lab and a recital hall at Center for Research and Computing in the Arts (CRCA) in CalIT^2; Warren Lecture Hall Studios, two multi-million dollar recording facilities with recital hall; extensive library collection in all areas of music, also known internationally for its contemporary music holdings; and high-speed wireless Internet access and streaming capabilities.

For over three decades, UCSD's percussion department has attracted a higly talented group of eclectic and imaginative graduate students. Former members come from around the world and continue to innovate, proliferate, and dedicate their work towards the spirit of contemporary music.
