A Tribute to Kaija Saariaho

Our final concert of the Voices Festival is dedicated to the music of the late Kaija Saariaho, one of contemporary music's most extraordinary and original voices, with works rarely heard in Southern California, including Quatre Instantes and Leino Songs for voice and piano, instrumental works Folia and Ciel Etoile and more.

It is a rare opportunity to delve into the composer's unique world, with its underlying lyricism, powerful range of emotional expression and superlative command of color, timbre and texture of sound.

Ballade (for solo piano)
Changing Light  (voice and violin)
Ciel Etoile  (double bass and percussion
Folia  (double bass)
Quatre Instantes  (soprano and piano)
Leino Songs (voice and piano)

Featuring:
